THE MAGIC OF TUSCANY

Paolo and Enza Fell in love with this large farmhouse set on 14 acres of land  in a Beautiful position above the 13th Century town of Figline Valdarno. They slowly and carefully restored the house preserving the original character and charm, its renovation was completed in 2004, it was named after the numerous secular Mulberry trees on the property.
“I Gelsi” has retained its original atmosphere, but of course, essential modern creature comforts have been added including Wi-Fi throughout the property.
Enza is an Italian Born Midwife who returned to Florence from the United Kingdom in the late 1980s.Her husband Paolo is a Florentine photographer and together they live in one wing of the main house with their two grown up children enjoying a traditional Italian family lifestyle. During the summer, Enza takes advantage of the homegrown produce to create preserves and sauces and of course, in autumn everyone helps with the olive harvest.,

“I Gelsi” is  a great alternative to a hotel in Florence, situated on a hill top which offers amazing views of the mountains, the Valdarno Valley and the many small towns and villages on the facing hillsides. You can enjoy  walks, hikes, bike or horse rides through vine yards, olive groves and woods. Just 15 min walk away you can buy organic products from Sting and Trudy’s property’s farm shop. On your return you could have a dip in the pool…..relax…..enjoy a glass of locally produced Chianti or be  just free to sit and do sweet nothing…..

THE SPELL OF “I GELSI”

Despite its quiet location in Tuscany, “I Gelsi” lies centrally between both artistic and historical places: Florence 25 km, Arezzo 40 km, Siena 50km,Volterra, San Gimigniano. Paolo is happy to suggest some amazing day-long tour itineraries that would take you to leading centres of the Italian Renaissance as well as many other lesser known cultural gems. ”I Gelsi” is also within easy reach of the A1 motorway so you can choose to take the shorter route back.
